Mangalore, 25 Jan 2013: The Churches all over the world come together from 18-25 January to pray for Christian Unity. The finale of the ‘Prayer for Christian Unity’ was held at St Joseph’s Seminary, Mangalore.
Rev. Sagar Sundar Raj, Lecturer at Karnataka Theological College, Balmatta, drawing inspiration from Prophet Micah (6:6-8), preached on the theme “What does God require of us?” “Today we witness lot of injustice around us. Especially Dalits are discriminated and marginalized based on casteism. God invites us to transform this humiliating situation of the Dalits and to fight for their rights. For this we need to walk humbly with God and strive to establish a just society”, he said in his reflection.
Bishop Aloysius Paul D’Souza of Mangalore diocese invited the gathered assembly to be the sign of liberation to the marginalized.
Very Rev. Dr Joseph Martis, the Rector of St Joseph’s Seminary, welcomed the gathering. Rev. Winfred Amanna, Rev. Dr John Baptist Saldanha, Rev. Sandeep Theophil, Rev. Sr Asumptha B.S., Rev. Fr Clifford Fernandes, Rev. Sydney Salins led the prayer service.
The Staff and students of St Joseph’s Seminary and Karnataka Theological College, Pastors, Priests, Religious Sisters, members of Mangalore Christian Council and Brethren from various Christian denominations participated in the Prayer for the Christian Unity.
