Moodubelle: Police arrested 4 accused in telephone cable theft case

Moodubelle, 19 August 2012: The timely coordinated efforts by BSNL, Police department and the local people succeeded in catching 4 persons accused in the telephone cable theft case in Moodubelle. The copper telephone cables were stolen in three locations in Moodubelle. Seeing the missing of telephone cables the local people informed to BSNL about it.

 
Upon inspection by BSNL it was noted that 15 meter cable from near Lions Bhavana in Gudthottu, 300 meter cable from Poyyada Padi Ankudru and 10 meter cable from another location have been stolen. These telephone cables are 10 pair copper cables. The theft activities seem to have taken place for about a week. As the copper fetches good market value seems to have prompted the culprits for stealing.

 

 
Srinivas - JTO of BSNL gave complaint to the Shirva Police Station on this theft. Shirva Police team led by Sub Inspector Nayak took immediate action and with the coordination of local people and BSNL, within the next day they traced the place where these cables were burned, melting the plastic cover and the copper wires were separated in Thankarottu near Poyyada Padi river. Police also managed to find one sack of these separated copper core wires sold in Hiriyadka.

 

Upon further investigation the Police arrested 4 persons. It was learned that these persons are not from Moodubelle but are living in a rented house in Thankarottu near Poyyadapadi. They are doing odd jobs such as working on Lorries and previously involved in illegal activities and small robberies. Police have produced them to the court and have been issued 14 days judicial custody.

 
The shortage of labours makes way for lot of people from outside to come and work as they can easily get jobs here. But as these people also see easy opportunities for theft, they do not hesitate to get into such robberies. In the wake of the robberies and even murders of people living in remote areas taking place for robberies in the district in the recent days, it is important for people to stay vigil on people wandering especially the outsiders.
