Manipal, 23 July 2012: If good cricket players are to be prepared, good coaches are required, so first there is a need to have the good coaches today, said Board of Indian Cricket Control Chief Administrative Officer Prof. Ratnakara shetty. He was speaking upon inaugurating Udupi District Cricket Association (UDCA) at Fortune In Valley View Hotel on Sunday.
Cricket means not just the 11 players alone, the coaches, team managers, organizers, coordinators all together forms into cricket. So, when more and more local cricket organizations come into existence, more local cricket players get encouragement, opinioned Ratnakara Shetty. Instead of fighting for the rights in Karnataka Cricket Association, more work should be done towards encouraging the local cricket talents; he gave a tip to Udupi Cricket Association.
Chief Guest of the occasion former International cricket player Syed Mohamed Kirmani spoke and said that, in the 23 districts of the state 33 summer cricket camps have been conducted. In the 6 zones, 5 cricket academies have been conducted. Former cricketer Javagal Srinath is conducting very good cricket training classes, in order to inspire the local talents he could also be invited to Udupi, he said.
The program was presided over by UDCA Hon President Dr. H.S. Ballal. Manipal University Chancellor Dr. Ramdas M. Pai and DKCA President Dr. Srikanth Rai were on the dias. UDCA President Dr. Krishnaprasad welcomed the guests and the gathering. Secretary Prabhakara Shetty proposed vote of thanks. Balakrishna Muddoodi compeered the program.
