Udupi, 12 May 2012: “ Currently there is a 50% reservation for the Cathloic women in political and other fields; they must make good use of it. By this the Catholic Women have the responsibility of providing able Christian women leader to the society” said HE Dr. Aloysius Paul D’Souza, Bishop of Mangalore.
The Bishop was speaking on the occasion of inaugurating the District Catholic Women’s Unit (Catholic Women’s Sthree Sangatan, Udupi District) at the Don Bosco Auditorium on Friday.
Women’s role in the family is main and important, women being the main strong pillar of the family, God have given grace and strength to take care of their children, home management, visiting guests, etc patiently. Therefore, women should give attention to the family responsibilities even while performing their community service.
By giving importance to prayer at home, the possibility of uniting family members with trust and Catholic values will be instilled in them, there is a chance to bring change about in the society, Bishop said during the occasion.
Dr. Baptist Menezes, the Episcopal Vicar of Udupi District, Dr. Ronald Cutinho, President of Unit, Rev. Fr. Fredrick Mascarenhas, the Parish Priest of Udupi Mother of Sorrows Church were the main guests.
Ms. Veronica Cornelio, Udupi Jilla President, Mr. Valerian Menezes, President Catholic Credit co-operative Society wished the Udupi Sthree Sangatana unit all the best in their future activities. Ms. Veronica Cornelio also read the report of the sangatana.
The editor of Sangatana weekly Ms. Lydwin Pinto, Vice President Ms. Irine Pereira, and Treasurer Ms. Veera Pinto were present on the dais on the occasion.
Earlier, Jilla President Leena Roch welcomed guests and audiance and Vice President Cynthia Dias wished them. Mable Menezes and Janet Banz conducted the entire programme.
