Mangalore, 01 March 2010: “Congress candidate Jaya Prakash Hegde, the Congress candidate for the Lok Sabha by poll in the Udupi-Chikmagalur constituency will win with a large margin “, proclaimed Ramanath Rai, the Mangalore District Congress President and MLA from Bantwal while speaking to the press reporters on Thursday, March 1,2012 at 10.30 am in Mangalore District Congress Office.

Ramanath Rai said that the Congress office bearers and workers from Mangalore District will visit all the assembly constituencies in the Udupi-Chikmagalur Lok Sabha constituency to canvas support to Jaya Prakash Hegde. He  expressed confidence that due to the misgovernment, corruption allegations against various minsters of the BJP government and the ‘porngate’ in the assembly has led to the disillusionment of the people in general against the BJP state government in Karnataka.

Answering a question from one of the reporters, Ramanath Rai said that even though a number BJP MLAs strongly disapprove the corrupt practices and the recent ‘porngate’, they still support the government as they do not want the government to fall.

Taking a dig at the Karnataka BJP President Ishwarappa that BJP will not give tickets in future to  undeserving candidates, Ramanath Rai said that the statement by the BJP state unit  President shows that so far undeserving candidates have been given tickets by the BJP. The press conference was attended by a number of Mangalore District Congress leaders including Ivan D’Souza, Secretary of Karnataka Congress Committee, T.K. Sudhi, District Congress Secretary and in charge of press, Sadashiv UllalGeneral Secretary of the District Congress Committee and others.
