Shankarpura, 04 October 2011: While voluntarily conducting the service activities in the rural areas, Rotary should also become a platform for the interaction to the people’s representatives so that the common man can avail the various government programs for the people, said Rotary International District 3180 Governer H.L. Ravi Shivamoga. He was speaking in a felicitation function conducted at Shankarapura Rotary Sabha Bhavana on Monday.
After giving away the trophies to the winning team in the cultural competitions and the felicitation to the achievers in various fields, H.L. Ravi said that, while doing its service in the fields of education, health, agriculture and social work, Rotary should guide the young generations with the principles of Anna Hazare through Interact and Rotaract and aim for a conscious, strong and corruption-free India.
Achievers who were felicitated for their excellences in various fields are; Dr. Geetha Mable Nazreth who received PHD in Chemistry, Hotel Entrepreneur Achutha Nayak, Special Olympics Gold Medalist Pramila Pinto Manasa Pamboor, Sapthagiri College of Hotel Management Mangalore Principal Ronald D’Sa and Welding Works Proprietor Shrinivasa Acharya.
Free spectacles were distributed to those who had sight problems. Dr. Edward Lobo, Edward Mendonsa, Sr. Telma and Mark Vaz introduced the guests. On this occasion Former Rotary President Nandanakumar was honoured with “Paul Harris Fellow” title.
Winners of cultural competitions held in Padubidri; Kaup Rotary Club – First place, Karkala Rotary Club – Second place and Shirva Rotary Club – Third place, were given away the trophies by District Governor H.L. Ravi and congratulated them. Zonal Deputy Governor K.R. Patkar, Padubidri Rotary President Ganesh Acharya and Director Madhava Suvarna were present.
Zonal Deputy Governer K.R. Patkar released club magazine “Sourabha” on the occasion. Zonal Senani M.G. Nagendra conveyed good wishes. The program was presided over by Shankarapura Rotary President Valerian Noronha, who also welcomed the guests and the gathering. Secretary Vincent Saldanha read the report. B.
