Moodubelle, 16 August 2011: A free eye-checkup camp was organized at the Jnana Ganga PU College, Nellikatte, Moodubelle on Monday, August 15, 2011 at 10 am. The camp was organized in association with Rotary Club, Manipura, Sarvajanika Ganeshostava Samiti ,Dendoorkatte, Prasad Netralaya & Netra Jyothi Charitable Trust,Udupi and District Health and Family Welfare Department, Udupi.
Prior to the camp, inauguration programme was held in the college premises which was presided over by Devdas Hebbar, President of the Udupi Taluk Panchayat. The Principal of the PU College, U.L. Bhat welcomed the gathering. The guests included : Dr.Krishna Prasad K of Prasad Netralaya Udupi, John Sequiera , President of the Rotary Club, Manipura, Sakaram Shetty, President of Sarvajanika Ganeshostava Samiti , Dendoorkatte, Dr.Nityananda Nayak , Secretary of District Health and Family Welfare Department and Suresh Shetty, Vice President of General Insurance Co-Operative Society. Mrs. Sulakshana and Mrs. Leena compeered the programme. The eye camp was inaugurated by T.V. Rao, Honorary President of the Jnana Ganga PU College.
Speaking at this occasion, Dr. Prasad said that every parent wishes that the eyes of their children should be healthy and highlighted the importance of regular eye check up. Devdas Hebbar in his presidential message said that if we have to see the light of the world, our eyes should good and pointed out the problems faced by those who have lost their sight.
Following the inauguration of the free eye checkup camp, nearly 200 people those who attended the camp were provided free eye check up, medicines and arrangements were made to provide free spectacles.
