Udupi, 12 August 2011: Popular snake expert Gururaja Sanil has safely caught a huge Kalinga snake in a agricultural farm at Hardali Mandali Grama of Kundapura on Wednesday and then left it in the forest. This snake was wandering in the agricultural farm of Vidyanantha Mithyantha from 3 days searching for food. Seeing the snake the residents of the house got scared. Forest department was informed and upon their request Gururaja Sanil came to the spot and Sanil with his smartness caught the snake.
The snake was in the bamboo plantation, while trying to catch, it climbed a tree. Later after lot of efforts finally Sanil caught it and after that, upon the suggestion of the forest department, it was left in the thick forest of Balebari Ghat of Siddapura. Forest department Officers Baskara and Hebbar cooperated in this operation.
The main food of Kalinga snake is water snakes. Perhaps it must have come into the farm of Mithyantha in search of food. It is about 7 – 8 years old and 12 feet long, male snake, said Gururaja Sanil.
