Mumbai, 07 Mar 2022: At the joint aegis of Annyay Nivaran Nirmulan Seva Samiti and Go Raksha Foundation organized the conferring of Samaja Ratna awards at Raj Bhavan, headquarters of Maharashtra governor Bhagat Singh Koshiyari, here on Monday March 7.
Guv Koshiyari conferred Samaja Ratna award to the renowned Tulu – Kannadiga social worker Yermal Harish Shetty for his extraordinary humanitarian deed in serving food to the hungry during Covid-19. The award was also conferred to 29 individuals for their distinguished social welfare activities.
The Seva Samiti national president Rajabavu Shet, vice president Dr Pramod Pandey, organizers Shailaja Malik and Kampere Nita Bajpai were present.

Yermal Harish Shetty is a native of Yermal in Udupi who migrated to Mumbai after studying Class VII at Adamar School, Udupi. He continued his studies working in hotels and restaurants. He worked for 6 years in Nirlon. He ventured into restaurant business full time by establishing Link View Fine Dine Hotel, Christi Hotels Privae Limited and Mantra Residency at Mud Island, Malad (West), Mumbai. He is the most successful hotelier and social activist without much publicity. He would return to his native Kaup during monsoon to cultivate paddy providing jobs to many.
