Mangaluru, 17 Mar 2021: We ought to know our rights as customers in order not to become victims of frauds because the marketing ethics states Customer is King, said K Dayanand Pai, correspondent of Besant Women’s College.
Pai was speaking after inaugurating World Customers’ Day held at Besant Women’s College auditorium, hosted by the College in collaboration with, district administration, food, civil supplies and consumers affairs department, district Consumers Forum, district consumers info center, here on Monday, March 15 morning.
‘When compared to earlier times, the customers does not get due respect in the market. Meanwhile, it’s noteworthy that more youth are buying the groceries personally at the shops than elders,’ said Pai.
He urged the shopkeepers and entrepreneurs to respond to each other’s needs in delivering quality goods and services.
In her presidential address, Kumari Ramya C R, deputy director of food, civil supplies and consumers affairs department stressed on the need to form Consumers Forum in schools and colleges to sensitize youth on consumers rights. The enlightened youth would get better products and services when they question the shopkeeper, said Ramya.
In his preliminary address, M J Salian, district Consumers Forum president appealed the consumers to know their rights and deal with shopkeepers carefully by verifying the authenticity and after sales services.
The prizes were distributed to the winners of various competitions organized by Consumers Forum.
Dr U Tara Rao, principal of Government First Grade College, Kavoor and Aruna P Kamath, principal of SDM College were present.
Besant College principal Satish Kumar Shetty welcomed the gathering. The student Deeksha compered the programme.
