Mangaluru, 13 Jan 2021: The universal vaccination for Covid-19 will officially begin from January 16, said Mangaluru taluk health officer Dr Sujay Bhandary.
The taluk vaccination committee organized the meeting at Tahildar’s office located at Mini Vidhan Soudha, here on Tuesday January 12.
It was chaired by deputy Tahsildar Jayant.
Dr Bhandary also said, ‘The dry run for the vaccination programme has been successful. The cold rooms to store Covid-19 vaccine has been set up at District Wenlock Hospital, state-run hospitals in the taluks of Bantwal, Puttur, Beltangady and Sullia, urban primary health centre (PHC) at Surtkal, here,’ said Dr Bhandary.
In one camp 100 people will be vaccinated. Nearly 1 crore Corona Warriors including health personnel will get the first vaccine. Nearly 26 crore people above the age of 50 years will get the vaccine in second phase, informed Dr Bhandary.
One should register his/her name in Co-Win App who will get SMS on the date that he should go to the vaccination facility. Under the health personnel category – nurses, supervisors, medical and paramedical, laboratory technicians, students will get the vaccines.
The vaccination programme will take place like general elections in the country. The vaccination centre will have a vaccination section, waiting room and observation area. The people who get the jab had to stay for half an hour at the observation area, added Dr Bhandary.
Taluk Panchayat manager Pratibha, other departments officials, the heads of NGOs were present.
