Udupi: Lions Club, Moodubelle Celebrates Teachers Day and Mother Theresa Day

Udupi/M’Belle, 05 Sept 2020: The Lions Club of Moodubelle celebrated Teachers Day and Mother Theresa Day on Saturday, 5 September 2020 at 7 pm at the Lions Seva Bhavan. Ln. Prof. Wilfred D’Souza, the former Lions District Governor was the chief guest. The programme was presided over by Ln. Anil D’Mello, President of Lions Club, Moodubelle. Other dignitaries on  the dais included Ln. Gerald Fernandes-Lions District Leo Coordinator, Ln. Rajendra Shetty-Zone Chairman, Ln. Devdas Hebbar-Secretary of Lions Club, Moodubelle, Ln. Nevill D’Souza-Secretary and Leo Joyce Fernandes-President of Leo Club, Moodubelle.

 

After paying respect to Mother Theresa by the dignitaries on the dais, teachers, both retired and presently serving were honoured by the dignitaries on the dais. The honoured teachers included the members and family members of the Lions Club of Moodubelle and teachers serving in the educational institutions of Moodubelle. Br. Philip Noronha, Principal of St. Lawrence English Medium High School and Mrs. Sunitha Kamath-Headmistress of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School were among the teachers who were honoured on this occasion. 

 

On behalf of the teachers, Br. Philip Noronha appreciated the gesture of the Lions Club of Moodubelle in honouring the teachers on the Teachers day. He said that teachers have been known for their service to the society and the nation.

 

 

Ln. Prof. Wilfred D’Souza was next honoured for his service in the teaching profession and in Lionism. Speaking on this occasion, Ln. Wilfred D’Souza said that Mother Theresa served humanity through her selfless service. He also said that teachers profession is quite different from other professions. They have the great responsibility of shaping the future of the youth and building a health nation through responsible citizens.

 

On this occasion Dr. Dheeraj Fernandes-Assistant Professor in Fr. Mullers’s Homeopathic College, Mangalore was indicted as a new member of the Lions Club of Moodubelle.

 

Ln. Anil D’Mello welcomed the gathering. Ln. Devdas hebbar read the report of the activities of the Lions Club of Moodubelle. Ln. Gerald Fernandes outlined the projects to be undertaken by the Lions Club, Leo Joyce Fernandes mentioned about the programmes to be undertaken by the Leo Club. Ln. Nevill D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks and Ln. Maxim D’Sa compeered the programme.
