Mangaluru: DK has 3,500 beds ready to treat Covid cases; capacity to set up 10,000

Mangaluru, 14 Jul 2020: Three-thousand-five-hundred beds are readied in hospitals and care centers in DK district for treating Covid-19 positive and symptomatic patients, said Deputy Commissioner Sindhu B Rupesh.

 

Attending video conferencing with CM B S Yeddyurappa here on Monday July 13, DC said DK district has the capacity to put up about 10,000 beds that would be ready in coming week. It would be set up in different state-run hostels, auditoriums and hospitals, informed DC to CM.

 

 

A total of 36,898 people are tested for Covid-19 in the district; out of which 2,222 cases are found to be positive cases. At present, there are 1,399 active cases in DK district and 43 people have died owing to global pandemic, added DC.

 

DC also said, ‘Asha health workers identified symptomatic people during their door-to-door visits in a few localities. Meanwhile, the treatment becomes complicated as people with full blown cases come at last stages,’ said DC.

 

DK MP Nalin Kumar Kateel briefed CM that there are complaints received from patients over excess charging for Covid treatment at private hospitals. He urged CM to issue notification over treatment under union sponsored Ayushman healthcare scheme and Karnataka Arogya.

 

DK district-in-charge minister Kota Srinivas Poojary said all private medical college hospitals in DK will provide free treatment to Covid cases.
