Bantwal, 02 Jul 2020: DK district Legal Forum® urged Karnataka state government to set up a separate corpus of Rs 50 crore to aid the legal fraternity in overcoming the extreme hardships caused by Covid-19 lockdown.
Addressing the legal fraternity, here on Monday, June 29, Forum district president S P Chengappa said, ‘Its due to Covid-19 lockdown judiciary is closed for 3 months. It has caused hardship to plaintiffs and for lawyers who are dependent on their profession,’ said Chengappa.
He urged the state government to advise banks to sanction loans at lower interest rates, hike the stipends to young lawyers, to subject convicts under judicial custody for Covid-19 test, allow their families to visit them, urged Chengappa.
Forum vice president Umesh Kumar Y, general secretary Udaneshwar B, organizing secretary Veerendra M Siddakatte, Bantwal unit president Suresh Poojary, secretary Ravindra Kukkaje, joint secretary Tulsidas, Mohan Kadeshwalya, core committee member B V Shenoy and others were present.
