Udupi/M’Belle, 14 Mar: Thirty tenth standard students of St. Lawrence English Medium High School, Moodubelle who will be appearing for the SSLC examination this year were given warm farewell by the Principal, teachers and students on Saturday, 14 March 2020.
The farewell programme was presided over by Rev. Br. Philip Noronha. Leeladhar Kamath, president of PTA and Mrs. Sujatha Nayak, Vice President were on the dais.
The farewell programme commenced with prayer song by the students of the tenth standard followed by welcome by Jannice Castelino of eighth standard and lighting of the lamp by Principal Philip Noronha and PTA representatives. Students of tenth standard held candles lit from the lamp as a group of students sang in praise of light of education. There after all the teachers facing the students held their right hand in blessing posture as Principal Philip Noronha recited the prayer imparting blessing to the students for their success in the forthcoming SSLC examination.
Amisha Lobo of ninth standard expressed her feelings about the tenth standard students.
On behalf of the tenth standard students Aston Shaun D’Souza and Ramya narrated their experience as students of the institution for the past twelve years right from LKG to tenth standard and appreciated the teachers for their efforts in educating them in all respects.
Mrs. Malathi speaking on behalf of the teachers wished all the thirty students success in their forthcoming SSLC examination and advised them to be good human beings helping other human beings, achieving success in life and remembering their alma mater.
Jeswita D’Souza of tenth standard in her witty speech narrated the distinct qualities of the teachers and appreciated them for correcting them when they were wrong and teaching them with love and affection though some of them were very strict and many times used to scold them when they went wrong.
Leeladhar Kamath in his message wished well to the students in their SSLC examination.
The students presented group songs assisted by their guitar teacher Franky Monis.
Principal Philip Noronha presented mementos to all the SSLC students.
In his message to the tenth standard students, Principal Philip Noronha said, “Friends, as you leave your alma mater which is also your second home, you will be carrying loads of memories. You be your own best friend. Love life and support life. Encourage one another and never lose hope in life. Life is precious gift of God and never destroy it. Make sure that any habit you make let that habit not control you, but you be the master of your life and habits”.
Principal Philip also sang a Kannada song from one of the films of famous Raj Kumar for the students.
Student representatives handed over Rs.13,000/- to Principal Philip Noronha as their farewell gift to the school.
Derryil Sequeira proposed the vote of thanks. Prerana Shetty compeered the programme.
