Puttur, 08 Feb: Humanities Association and Internal Quality Assurance Cell of St Philomena College, here organized 2-day Exhibition of Tulu Folk Artifacts ‘Badk’ that is contemporary life in erstwhile Tulunadu at the College Silver Jubilee Memorial Hall on February 7 and 8.
The chairman of Rani Abbakka Tulu Study Centre, Bantwal - Dr Tukarama Poojary participated as the chief guest.
In his inaugural address, Dr Poojary said, ‘Our Tulunadu is known for rich culture and artistic heritage. The present generation must understand the inherent values associated with Folk Artifacts.’
The chairman of Post Graduate Study Centre and campus director of the College Fr Dr Antony Prakash Monteiro participated as the guest of honor. He said, ‘A person who knows history can become an extraordinary scholar. The students must acquire practical knowledge along with theoretical knowledge.’
The principal Prof Leo Noronha presided the programme. He said, ‘The value of Artefacts is immeasurable. Everyone must possess the pride about our culture and heritage. History does not change. But our perception will undergo changes.’
The principal of St Philomena PU College Fr Vijay Lobo, Aryabhata Awardee Mohammad Yaseer Kalladka and Hallimane Hyder Ali Koyyur graced the occasion.
On this occasion, Thashreefa Jahan, 8th rank winner in Bachelor of Arts examinations of Mangalore University held during April/May 2019 was felicitated.
Ashintha Monteiro and team presented the prayer song. Sr Annamma R welcomed the gathering. Dimple Tauro proposed the vote of thanks. The convener of Humanities Association and HoD of History Prof Subair coordinated the programme. Priyanka Madtha compered the programme.
