Mangaluru, 18 Jan: Indian Red Cross Society (IRCS), Dakshina Kannada district, Youth Red Cross of Mangalore University and Youth Red Cross Unit of Dr P Dayananada Pai-P Sathisha Pai Government First Grade College, Car Street, here jointly organised a walk-a-thon in connection with Centenary celebration of IRCS-2020 on Friday, January 17.
The walk-a-thon event was flagged off by SNaganna, chairman of Indian Red Cross Society, KSB, Bengaluru.
Speaking on the occasion, C A Shantharam Shetty said, ‘Red Cross units helps in Serving the Society Selflessly with a Motto of Service to mankind.’
Prof Rajashekar Hebbar C, principal of College inspired the students to actively participate in this event.
Walk-a-thon was successfully organised to create awareness of the importance of Red Cross among public.
Around 300 Red Cross volunteers enthusiastically participated in the Walk-a-thon which was led by Prof Rajashekar Hebbar, principal, Dr Ganapathi Gowda, nodal officer, Youth Red Cross, Mangalore University and Dr Mahesh K B, Prof Mani Bushan D’Souza and Prof Nayana Kumari K, YRC Programme officers were present.
The Programme was compered by S A Prabhakara Sharma, honorary secretary, Indian Red Cross Society.
