Udupi, 24 Nov: The annual Eucharistic Procession of Udupi Diocese and the feast of Christ the King were observed in the Milagres Cathedral on Sunday, 24 November 2019.
Bishop of Udupi Diocese, Most Rev. Dr. Gerald Isaac Lobo led the annual Eucharistic procession and celebration of the festal mass of Christ the King.
Delivering the homily, Bishop Gerald Isaac Lobo said that Jesus Christ came to the world not to expect and service from anyone but to serve the humanity. He served the humanity to the extent of sacrificing Himself on the Cross. He never extended His physical kingdom in this world but redeemed the humankind from sin. Jesus Christ desired to establish the kingdom of peace and everyone has the responsibility of fulfilling His desire.
Soon after the festal mass, the Eucharistic Sacrament was carried by the Bishop on a decorated vehicle through the main road leading to Mount Rosary Church, Santekatte as the faithful went in procession paying public reverence to the Sacrament.
On reaching Mount Rosary Church ground, Fr. Melvil Roy Lobo, assistant parish priest of St. Lawrence Minor Basilica, Attur-Karkala delivering the homily said that Eucharist is the symbol of unity, sacrifice and forgiveness. True love is manifested through loving the neighbours and Jesus Christ had shown that kind of love through His sacrifice on the Cross. Eucharist is the light of our hope and those who have faith in this Sacrament will never be let down.
