Udupi/M’Belle, 07 Sep: St. Lawrence PU College, Moodubelle boys team and St. John’s PU College Shankarpura girls Volleyball teams emerged victorious in the Kaup Taluk level Volleyball tournament held on Saturday, 07 September 2019 from 10.30 am to 4.30 pm in St. Lawrence PU College Ground, Moodubelle. St. John’s PU College Shankarpura boys and Jnanaganga PU College girls teams were runners up.
The Kaup Taluk level PU Colleges Volleyball tournament was inaugurated by Fr. Clement Mascarenhas in the morning at 9.45 am. Mrs. Sujata Suvarna-member of Udupi Taluk Panchayat, Devaraya Shanbhagh-Principal of St. Lawrence PU College, Mrs. Sunitha Kamath-Headmistress of St. Lawrence Kannada Medium High School and Joseph D’Souza-Physical Director of St. Lawrence PU College were present.
In his inaugural message, Fr. Clement Mascarenhas stressed on the importance of sports in the life of an individual especially of the students. He wished well to all the teams.
Devaraya Shanbhagh welcomed the gathering, Joseph D’Souza proposed the vote of thanks and Naveen Correa compeered the inaugural programme.
Seven boys and five girls teams from Kaup Taluk participated in the Volleyball tournament. St. Lawrence and St. John’s boys teams vied for the top position. After hard fought match, St. Lawrence boys team emerged as the champions and St. John’s as runners up. Likewise, St. john’s girls team became victorious after defeating Jnanaganga, Nellikatte girls team.
The valedictory function was held at 4.45pm. Denis Martis, President of Lions Club, Moodubelle was the chief guest. While he gave away the trophies to the winners, Devaraya Shanbhagh, Principla of St. Lawrence PU College gave away trophies to the Runners up teams.
Joseph D’Souza-Physical Director of St. Lawrence PU College compeered the valedictory function.
