Mangaluru, 14 Jan: Under the tag of Celebrate the Elderly, Senior Citizens Day was celebrated at Roshni Nilaya, here on Sunday, January 13. It was organized by UXCEL Institute of Excellence in collaboration with St Milagres Credit Co-operative Society, Karwar, Hisrar Event Management, Roshni Nilaya, here.
Programme began with felicitation of elderly by presenting a kit which consisted of necessary items for them.
George Fernandes, founder and managing director of St Milagres Credit Co-operative Society was the chief guest inaugurated the programme.
Professor Maria D’Costa and Alan Rasquinha welcomed the gathering. Gayle Rodrigues presented the welcome dance. UXCEL faculty Savitha Salian introduced George Fernandes.
Speaking on the occasion Dr Thangam Verghese said, ‘Old age is a blessing by God. Our life in this world is like having dinner and old age is a period where one that is waiting for the deserts after the dinner. Hence, we all must eager to wait for the beautiful day that God reserved for us that is uniting with the God.’
National yoga trainer Devika Pushotham conducted yoga session for elderly people to remain healthy.
