Mangaluru, 14 Nov 2017: Four students of Dakshina Kannada district bagged national and state awards for their major achievement in different spheres. The awards will be conferred on Children’s Day celebration on November 14.
Swastik Padma is a native of Murgaje – Kedila, Bantwal taluk who bagged national award for her scientific invention, who will be conferred the award from President R N Kovind in New Delhi, during Children’s Day celebration. The award comprises Rs 10,000 cash and silver medal. She has won several national, state and district award. She has also competed in international science competition.
M Adwika Shetty, native of Subashina Nagar, Suratkal, near here will be conferred with state award at Bengaluru, on November 14, during Children’s Day celebration, for here cultural activities. She has won several awards both in India, state and district. She has also participated in international dance competition.
Vaishak, native of Sajipa Mooda – Kudoor, who has saved himself and his sister from the clutches of deadly python qualified for bravery award. Similarly, Nitin K R, a native of Koukrady in Puttur taluk, who saved his sister from snake bite by sucking the poison from the wound, the remedy that he learnt in first aid class.
Both Vaishak and Nitin will be presented with bravery award during state-level Children’s Day celebration, to be held at Bengaluru, on Wednesday, November 14, stated the media release issued by deputy director of women and child welfare department.
