Mangaluru: Dr Vasant Kumar Perla gets Dr Siddayya Puranik Literary Award

Mangaluru, 31 Aug 2016: Dr Vasant Kumar Perla, noted poet, writer and assistant director of All India Radio Mangaluru was conferred coveted Dr Siddayya Puranik Literary Award the year 2015-16 in recognition of his lifetime literary contributions. It was presented to Dr Perla during the Koppala District Festival held at Koppala, on September 26.

 

 

The award was instituted in the name of Dr Siddayya Puranik, a noted litterateur and senior IAS officer of Karnataka.

 

Dr Vasanthkumar Perla has published over 35 books both in Kannada and Tulu, which comprises poetry, short stories, novels, literary criticisms, travelogue, research works and compilations etc. He is having mastery over theatre and cinema field also.

 

 

Dr Perla has been honored with more than 15 literary awards. He is a good orator also. He did his Ph D on theatre and obtained a Diploma in journalism from Mysore University. He is serving with All India Radio since last 28 years.
