Mangaluru: Ramakrishna Mission carries out 37th Swacch Mangaluru Abiyan

Mangaluru, 01 Feb 2016: Ramakrishna Mission, here carried out 37th Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan at Lady Goshcen Hospital, Rao & Rao Circle area on Sunday January 31 from 7.30am to 10.30am.

 

Swami Shivapremananda, Ramakrishna mutt, Kolkata, and Dr Savitha, B S, medical director of Lady Goshen Hospital, here flagged-off the 37th drive in the presence of MLC Captain Ganesh Karnik.

 

Professor Mahesh K B, volunteers from Nivedita Balaga, students of Government First Grade College, Car Street, members of Kalki Bhagavan Amma under Ganesh and Sri Jagadish, members of Hindu Warriors - Whatsapp Group, Professor Sheshappa Amin, K V Sathyanarayana, Sujith Pratap, M R Vasudev, Suresh Shetty, Dilraj Alva and several other eminent persons were present. About 150 volunteers participated in the Abhiyan.

One group of volunteers cleaned the premises of Lady Goshen Hospital and its surroundings. Second group renovated the Rao & Rao Circle. Third group of volunteers cleaned the Bus shelter in front of Lady Goshen Hospital and both the sides of road leading to Rao & Rao Circle.  

 

Volunteers under Shubhoday Alva cleaned the whole premises of Lady Goshen Hospital including each nook and corner. They could clear out a tipper load of garbage from the hospital premises. The posters stuck to the front gate and walls of the hospital were removed. After washing, volunteers painted the gate and walls giving much needed face lift.

 

Thousands of pedestrians and commuters used to painfully witness the hopeless state of Rao & Rao circle. Volunteers of Hindu Warriors - Whatsapp Group under the guidance of Dilraj Alva cleaned the circle and painted it. The circle is wearing a fresh new look.

 

Two bus shelters opposite Lady Goshen hospital had virtually turned into garbage bins. Volunteers under Shwetha, cleaned the garbage, removed the posters stuck to the walls and washed the bus shelters.

 

Part of main road near Service Bus stand was filled with construction debris and was obstructing the smooth transit of vehicles. The debris have been removed by the volunteers

 

Volunteers also distributed handbills on Swacch Mangaluru Abhiyan to generate awareness among the locals in the area.

 

MRPL, principal patron of the event sponsored the drive.
