Moodubelle, 22 December 2010: Once sleepy township of Moodubelle has become quite active with increasing activities and mobility of the people. The vehicular traffic on the main road has become quite hectic and sometimes the road gets congested with verities of large medium and small vehicles including bikes and scooters. The bus services have increased since few years and buses are available at regular intervals to destinations such as Udupi, Karkala, Manchakal and even Mangalore.
The number of rickshaws have also increased considerably. The private cars and bikes are on a upward swing thus manifesting the affluence of the people of Modubelle who can afford these luxuries of life. Besides, these vehicles, dumpers and trucks make regular trips.
This heavy traffic has been clogging the main road causing great inconvenience to the pedestrians and school and college-going children. People parking their vehicles by the side of this narrow road has been causing these traffic jams. The fact cannot be denied that while the number of vehicles have increased using the main road, the infrastructural facilities have remained outdated. There is neither any scope for broadening the main road nor facility for parking vehicles. As such the road has been used for parking as well as traffic.
Though the road from Karkala to Udupi is being widened there is no space for widening the road in the township as there are shops and residences on both sides of the road. According to some reports there is a plan to provide a bypass for heavy traffic so that the township of Moodubelle will not face traffic congestion.
