Our Lady of Lourdes Parish, Kanajar Celebrates Confraternity Sunday

Kanajar, 29 November 2010: Confraternity Sunday was celebrated on 28th of November 2010 at our Lady of Lourdes Church Kanajar in preparation for the Parish Feast with the theme ‘Through the Eucharist – let us strengthen the bond of parishioners".

 

The Eucharistic Celebrations began at 8.30 am. Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis Rector St. Joseph Seminary, Jeppu Mangalore concelebrated the mass along with Re. Fr. Alwyn D’Cunha, Parish Priest. Brother Richard Lobo (S.V.D), Deacon assisted in the religious celebrations.

 

All the donors were honoured with ceremonious candles in the presence of congregation by the parish priest Rev. Fr Alwyn D’Cunha. Rev. Fr. Joseph Martis in an inspired homily asked the congregation to realize the might of service of every parishioner and its significance in strengthening the bond of parishioners to live as brothers and sisters within the larger community. He called on the parishioners to strengthen this special bond and live as a community of brothers and sisters. He further said that the devotion of Eucharist will help to sustain the faith in Lord Christ who is the living bread of all the faithful.

 

 

Eucharistic adoration was conducted and ceremonial procession was held from the parish hall, passing through the streets and concluded at the parish hall which filled with great reverence. This was followed by benediction.

 

The gurkars (head of wards) of 14 wards of Kanajar parish presented a large cake of the shape of Eucharist and it was cut to celebrate the occasion. This cake was shared with the elderly and ailing parishioners after the Holy Mass.

 

Large number of people, approximated over 1,000 devotees participated in the celebrations. At the end of the ceremonial celebrations cake and soft drinks were served to one and all.
