Bird-flu: Minister Khader urges public to remain panic-free


 

Mangaluru, 26 Nov 2014: In wake of bird-flu cases being reported in the neighbouring state Kerala, state Minister for Health U T Khader urged the public to remain panic-free as the government had been taking precautionary measures adding that no such case or symptoms  of the diseases were reported in the state so far.

 

The minister on Wednesday, November 26 held a district-level meet with the health and other officials concerned on the precautionary measures to be undertaken in Dakshina Kannada.

 

He directed the officials to subject vehicles transporting chicken from Kerala and border areas to the district and the state, to appropriate inspection.

 

Meanwhile, joints pain, cold, cough, headache being the most common symptoms of bird-flu, Khader cautioned public not to be ignorant even about mild fever and get it diagnosed at the nearest primary health care centre.

 

DK District Health Officer Ramakrishna directed the doctors to guide the patient for further treatment at the district hospital, in case of detection of bird-flu.

 

Zilla Panchayat CEO Tulasi Maddineni informed that she would soon address letters to all the Public Development Officers to ensure that awareness is created in this regard.
