Udupi: Women Protest against "India Today" magazine

Udupi, 05 November 2010: A group of women from Udupi expressed their protest against “India Today” periodical for wrongly presenting the woman on its cover page. Various women’s forums have condemned this and speaking to press persons they said that the November 08 issue of the magazine reflects total ill respect for a woman and depicts woman as an object.

 

Women have approached Deputy Commissioner of Udupi P. Hemalatha, submitted a memorandum and requested her to take necessary action on the magazine. They demanded to recall all the issues and put a ban on the circulation of the issue across the district. They also mentioned that if any magazine publishes such pictures in future they would take serious action.

 

 

Suprbha Acharya of Vishwa Hindu Parishad women’s wing, President of Mahila Samaj Manipal Sadhana Kini, Treasurer Aruna Shenoy, former councillor of Udupi CMC Jayashree Krishnaraj, Principal of MICE Udupi Supriya Amin, Gayathri Upadya, Jayashri Krishnaraj, Harini Damodhar and others were present.
