Mangalore, Sep 06, 2014: The inauguration of BIG Traffic Guru, an initiative of 92.7 BIG FM and city traffic police programme was held at Lalbagh signal near Mahatma Gandhi statue here on Friday September 5 at 4.55pm.
A group of traffic Gurus will enact the traffic rules for 7 days starting from Friday September 5. Nine traffic Gurus in 2 signals for 7 days till Thursday September 11 covering 14 signals in and around city.
The members of Supersouls (NGO) will perform an awareness drill at signals across the city as a part of this awareness drive. The awareness drives is aimed to imbibe and rekindle traffic sense among commuters and the public. This has been done by means of an audio-visual presentation.
This is an unique attempt to bring traffic awareness amongst, and probably first time the city is witnessing such an event.
DCP Vishnuvardhan,ACP Udaya Nayak, police officers from all the stations, Vijayanath Vittalnath Shetty from Sri Bhoothanathesharwa Temple Trust, Narasimha Shenoy from Origin Designext, Yathish Baikampandy from Panambur Beach Development Authority, members of Redrocks Group were present.
MLC Ivan D’souza, who was on his way to attend another event, stopped by to witness the event. He praised the initiative and wished the very best for the overall success of the event.
Speaking to media-persons DCP Vishnuvardhan said that the city traffic police department has always encouraged such public-friendly initiatives and urged the public to practice the traffic rules and lead by example.
Team 92.7 BIG FM members, RJ Varsha, RJ Errol, RJ Roopesh, RJ Dayanad Kattalsar, sound engineer Joel and others were present on this occasion.
