Haliyala, 25 October 2010: Accident between KSRTC bus and goods rickshaw on Sunday afternoon around 03.00 pm, caused the death of 8 persons including a pregnant woman and two children. Also seven persons are seriously injured in the accident.
The accident took place in the exterior of Haliyala town at the state high way near Dandeli link road. All the deceased were travelling in goods tempo. Among the dead were four women and two men and two children.
While the tempo driver tried to avoid a pond on the road the goods tempo crashed into the front side of KSRTC bus. With the impact of the crash the hood of the tempo was cut off and along with it the passengers in the tempo were thrown on the road. The bus passed on those thrown on the road resulting the death of eight people.
The persons dead in the accident are Sharada Mavalangi (53 y), Ganapathi Walekar (60 y) Sulochana Fernandes (31 y), Vinutha Fernandes (2 y), Clara Sebasthian (31 y), Nethra Karanjekara (2 y), Yashoda Mavalangi (40 y), Chimanu Janakara (51 y).
The injured are Yallawa Kidlani, Remath Lawrence D’Souza, Nagendra Mogri, Guddappa Adaveppache, Simon Siddhi, Duming Siddhi, Jakina Amlapaje.
