Campaign against the use of plastic by the NSS volunteers

Padubelle, 22 October 2010: In order to make the people aware of the adverse effects of the use of plastic on the environment, the NSS volunteers of St. Lawrence Composite PU College, Moodubelle who are presently undergoing camp training  in the Annual Special Camp at Shri Narayanaguru English Medium School, Padubelle participated in a campaign against the use of plastic in daily life by the people in general.

 

The campaign against the use of plastic was jointly organized by the NSS Unit along with the Belle Grama Panchayat, Lions Club of Moodubelle, Lions Club of Subhashnagar, Rotary Club, Shankerapura, Dharmasthala Gramabhivruddhi Yojana, Padubelle Zone and Geleyara Balaga, Padubelle.

 

 

Shri Shri Vidyavallabha Thirtha, the pontiff  of the Kaniyooru Mutt inaugurated the campaign against the use of plastic. Thereafter, the NSS volunteers started the campaign to make the people aware of the evil effects of the use of plastic. The valedictory programme that was arranged at the end of the campaign was presided over by Rev. Fr. Mathew Vas, the Vicar-vaar of Udupi Varado. The programme was attended by Ln. Cyril D’Douza, Ln. Ignatius D’Souza, Rtn. Nandan Kumar, Keshava Gouda, Cyril Quadros, Harish Shetty and others.

 

Edward Larsen D’Souza, officer in charge of the NSS Annual Special Camp welcomed the guests and highlighted the importance of the campaign against the use of plastic. Mrs. Shyamala compeered the programme and  Navin Correa proposed the vote of thanks.
