Moodubelle: All Committees associated with the Golden Jubilee Celebration of St. Lawrence High Schoo

Moodubelle, 24 August 2010:  The curtain has finally come down on the Golden Jubilee Celebration of St. Lawrence High School on Tuesday, 24 August 2010 at 3 pm with the presentation of the final account  of income and expenditure by Principal Fr. Paul Sequeira  who was also  the Treasurer of the Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee and  Fr. Joswey Fernandes, the Correspondent of the Parish Educational Institutions and  the President of the Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee announcing  the dissolution of  all committees associated with the Golden Jubilee Celebration of St. Lawrence High School, Moodubelle. The Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee was constituted in January 2009 in order to chalk out programmes associated with the celebration of the Golden Jubilee of St. Lawrence High School  during the last week of December 2009.

Fr. Joswey Fernandes presided over the final meeting of the Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee. In the beginning of the meeting, Mrs. Hilda Aranha, the Secretary of the Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee welcomed the office bearers and members of the Committee. Fr. Paul Sequeira with a brief introduction and expressing thanks to all the committee members,  the Parents-Teachers Association, the Old Students Association and all the staff members of the St. Lawrence Composite PU College  for their unstinted support in conducting all the programmes associated with the  Golden Jubilee Celebrations including the three days of  Jubilee functions on 28, 29 and 30 December 2009 and also expressing gratitude to all donors and well-wishers, especially Bellevision-UAE and Bellevision-USA  and others for their generous contribution towards the Golden Jubilee Celebration Fund, read out the statement of income and expenditure of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations.

As per the accounts statement presented at the meeting by Fr. Paul Sequeira: The total collection for the  Golden Jubilee Celebration Fund was Rs. 35,20, 482/- and from the advertisements for the Souvenir: Rs. 4, 23,469/- making a grand total of Rs. 39, 43, 951/- The total expenditure was: Rs. 37, 69, 556. The balance amount that is deposited in the Fixed Deposit  is: Rs. 1,74, 395/-

The statement of expenses item wise:

1. Repairing of College Hall   :Rs. 15,06,729/- 

2. Expenses of the Golden Jubilee Celebrations for three days: Rs. 3,85,484/-

3. Ground Renovation: Rs. 2,48,500/-

4. Endowment  Prize  Fund (In FD): 3,35,000/-

5. Needy Students Fund (In FD): Rs.5,35,000/-

6. Construction of part of the Compound Wall, 

laying of Water Pipes and Painting of Building: Rs. 2,15, 019/-

7. Advertisement in Udayavani and Vijayakarnataka: Rs. 68,000/-

8. Printing of Souvenir: Rs. 1,75,917/-

9. Repair of High School Building: Rs.2,02,875/-

10. Other Expenses: Rs.97,032/-

Total Expenses: Rs. 37,69,556/-

Fr. Paul Sequeira at the end of the presentation of the statement of accounts said that  though most of the projects that had been chalked out for the Golden Jubilee Celebrations have been completed, some projects are yet to be finished. These include: Completing of the compound wall, fencing of the newly acquired land towards the west of the high school and college complex, and levelling it so that games courts could be laid, final levelling of the playground and laying of tracks aand filling the old well on the playground. Fr. Paul also complimented Mrs. Christine Fernandes for maintaining the records and accounts of the jubilee meticulously.

In his valedictory address, Fr. Joswey Fernandes as the President of the Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee greatly appreciated the work done by the office bearers and all members of the Golden Jubilee Celebration Committee and other sub-committees towards the successful conduct of the Golden Jubilee of St. Lawrence High School and officially declared the dissolution of all committees. Devaraya Shanbagh, the Joint Secretary of the Golden Jubilee Committee proposed the vote of thanks.
