M’lore: Yuva Spandana Literary Residential Camp Concludes with Positive Note

Mangalore, 5 Sep 2013: ‘Set your goal and work towards achieving it. It’s essential to read wider topics to pen articles, because reading enhances knowledge to look into different perspectives. Hope the budding litterateurs emerge after this literary camp,’ said Kendr Sahitya Academy award recipient poet Melvyn Rodrigues.
Melvyn was the chief guest speaking during ‘Yuva Spandan’ literary residential camp for young writers, which was organized by Mangalore diocesan authorities in association with ICYM, to encourage youth to pen their stories, at Olivet Ghat, here from August 31 to September 1.
The camp participants were presented with certificates on the occasion. ICYM vice president Joshua D’Souza welcomed the gathering. President Sheldon Crasta proposed vote of thanks. Wilson Crasta compered the programme.
Konkani poet Andrew L D’Cunha inaugurated the camp by reciting his poem here on August 31 at 5.00pm.
ICYM former president Roshan Madta, spiritual director Fr Ronald D’Souza, camp co-ordinator Vitori Karkal, president Sheldon Crasta and secretary Ashwini D’Souza were present on the occasion.
Kalakul, the only Konkani theater repertory staged a play, Konknni Amcho Fudar?, besides ICYM – Bantwal parish unit staged street play on drug abuse.
The co-ordinator Vitori Karkal offered basic information on basics of literature. Raknno, Konkani monthly sub-editor Tony Ferros educated the youth on literary reading.
Melvyn Pinto educated the youth on penning articles, filing reports by group discussions on August 1.
The youth poets’ session was held on August 1 afternoon chaired by Wilma Bantwal.
Wilson Crasta, Bro Jovin Sequeira, Pavinta Monteiro, Bro Joel Pinto, Bro Lanson Pinto, Sandeep Monteiro, Preeti Juliet Pinto, Daryl D’Souza Vamanjoor, Alwyn Agrar and Gravita Danti read their poems.
