Dubai: Royal Challengers lift MVCA cup

Dubai, 26 May 2010: It was a bright sunny day and the weather was quite pleasant (considering usual days in Dubai) in the UAE, the green grass was shinning in Zabeel Park, Cricket ground was looking like St. Lucia Cricket ground in West Indies. Udenthichim Neketram - Moodbidri Varado Catholic Association (MVCA) organized an Udenthichim Neketram Cup - 2010 at the Zabeel Park in Dubai on May 21, 2010. The Organizing Committee headed by Mr. Praveen Sequeira, Siddakatte along with other members gathered to prepare the ground at sharp 08.00am, at 8.30 the MVCA President Mr. Elias D’ Souza - Hospet invoked the blessings of the Almighty along with other volunteers. At 8.45am the opening matches between Dubai New Star & Rosario Santhekatte were played.

There were 16 Teams participated in this Tournament in 2 Groups included SU Dubai, Sakath, Rosario Santhekatte, Balkunje Cricketers, St. Josephs, Eagles Shirva, Milagreans Kallianpur, Hospet Challengers, Matchless, Paladka, Taccode Friends, United Friends, Pacific Spark, Bellevision, Royal Challengers Mangalore and MCBC.

All the teams had shown their exuberance by participating in the group games in the right team spirit. The Scoring, Umpiring and Commentary Team head by Mr. Praveen Sequeira Siddakatte along with Richard Saldanha Sampige, Vinay Pinto Paladka, Vinod Siddakatte, Ullas Fernandes Siddakatte, Paul Dsouza Paladka, Lancy D’Costa Taccode, Vincent D’Costa Taccode (Asst. Sports Sec.), Sunil Pinto Hospet, Premus Lawrence, Rajesh Alvares Hospet, Roshan Loretto, Arun Siddakatte, Cynthia & Remson Braggs Neermarga, Deepak D’Silva Paladka, Walter Sequeira Siddakatte (Sports Sec.)

The morning breakfast and lunch which was provided by New Woodland Rest. / Woodside Rest. - Sharjah gave some enthusiasm for the players, but the some of the teams were playing really very well as the Emirates Snack Foods - Dubai one of the Sponsor who provided the EFFECT Energy Drink for this tournament, there were few EFFECT SIXES after the energy drink refreshments as well as few good catches and wickets.

Richard Saldanha Sampige, Deepak D’Silva, Lancy D’Costa Taccode & Vinay Pinto Paladka were really entertaining every body of the field as well as on the field by taking interviews.

The match between MCBC & Bellevision and also the semi final match between MCBC & Balkunje Cricketers was very crucial. Final match was played between Royal Challengers Mangalore  and MCBC where Royal Challengers won by 10 Runs.

At 8.45PM Mr. Valerian Pereira - Shirthady  praised and thanked all those who worked hard to make the ’Udenthichim Neketram Cup - 2010’ successful, especially the organisers, sponsors, volunteers and committee members. LLC - Sharjah, Mr. Michael Moras & Fly, Abu Dhabi, Wilfred Fernandes, Vamadapadavu, Mr. Albert Rodrigues & Fly, Shirthady -for providing drinking water from Oasis Water Supply, Emirates Snack Foods - Dubai & Mrs. Pramila D’Souza for providing EFFECT Energy Drink, Meals & Refreshments - New Woodland Restauant/Woodside Restaurant Sharjah, finally he thanked each and every person who was contributed for this tournament, But the special credit goes to the photographer Mr. Lancy Rodrigues - Hospet and the Physio. During the presentation ceremony the prizes were distributed along with cash prizes

After the prize distribution all the members departed with fond  memories of sharing LOVE, JOY and UNITY with happiness as one family. Kudos to the MVCA members & Organizing committee for such good Tournament.
