Team Winter Tone Bantwal Wins Prestigious ‘Gloria-2024’ Carol Singing Competition

Mangaluru: Team Winter Tone from Bantwal clinched the first prize in the highly anticipated carol singing competition Gloria-2024, held on Saturday, November 30, at Infant Jesus Shrine, Bikarnakatte. The event was jointly organized by Daijiworld 24x7 TV and Infant Jesus Shrine, drawing widespread participation and enthusiastic crowds.

 

The competition was inaugurated with a ceremonial unveiling of the trophies by notable dignitaries, including Mr. Walter Nandalike, Managing Director of Daijiworld Media; Rev. Fr. Melvin D’Cunha, Superior of St. Joseph’s Monastery; Mr. Ronald Nazareth, HR Director of Daijiworld TV; Rev. Fr. Stifan Perera, Director of Infant Jesus Shrine; and Mr. Victor D’Souza.

 

Addressing the gathering, Mr. Walter Nandalike remarked, “Gloria-2024 has received an overwhelming response, highlighting the joy and unity carol singing brings while spreading the message of peace and goodwill. Organizing this event at the Infant Jesus Shrine adds a deeper sense of devotion to the celebration.”

 

Rev. Fr. Melvin D’Cunha urged participants to embrace a spirit of sportsmanship, irrespective of the results, and emphasized their role as messengers of Christmas peace through their songs.

 

The competition featured three categories: School Level, Parish Level, and Open to All. The winners were:

- School Category: Lourdes Central School (Resonance Voices) secured the first prize and Mount Carmel Central School as runners-up.

- Parish Category: Infant Mary Church, Bajjodi, took the top honors, while Our Lady of Mercy Church, Manjeshwar, were runners-up.

- Open to All Category: Team Winter Tone, Bantwal, emerged victorious for the second consecutive year, with Angelic Echoes, Mangaluru, as runners-up.

The event also marked the release of the book “When I Cannot Pray”, authored by Rev. Fr. Rudolph D’Souza, OCD, currently serving in Canada. Adding to the festive atmosphere, Dance Stars Studio from Adyar Padav delivered a captivating performance, enthralling the audience with their moves.

 

Mr. Stany Bela, Program Coordinator for Daijiworld Media, commended the participants, saying, “Gloria-2024 has ushered in the Christmas season for coastal Karnataka, uniting communities through music and spreading the message of peace and harmony.”

 

Rev. Fr. Stifan Perera expressed gratitude to the donors, participants, and all who contributed to the success of the event. The Carmel Hill was alive with festive cheer, featuring vibrant stalls offering games, food, and promotional activities.

 

Ms. Shiny Anjelore expertly compered the program, ensuring its seamless execution. The grand event left attendees with cherished memories and a renewed sense of Christmas spirit.
