Mangalore Konkans announces jury for Golden Voice of UAE 2k22

Dubai, 13 Oct 2022: After a month of speculation of who would be judging the Grand Finale of the ‘Golden Voice of UAE 2k22’, we are pleased to announce the trio who would decide the winners of the show on its grand finale night on November 6 at the Emirates Theatre – Dubai from 4.00 pm to 9.30pm.

 

 

Mangalore Konkans has carefully chosen its judges to evaluate the performance of the top 12 contestants with utmost fairness and candidness.

 

Mangalore Konkans wishes all the best to the top 12 contestants competing for the title of ‘Golden Voice of Mangalore – Male’ and Female’.

 

Charan Kumar:

Charan Kumr is a popular personality, well known as ‘Raagdev’ in Konkani, Kannada, and Tulu music industries. Mangalore Konkans is proud to announce him as one of the three grand finale judges of ‘Golden Voice of UAE 2k22’. Mr. Charan Kumar is a renowned music director, fantastic artist, singer, and fabulous organizer. He had introduced the ‘nite’ form of music to Mangalore with his Ashok-Charan Nite and arranged music for numerous Konkani albums.  Charan Kumar was one of the co-judges of ‘Ede Tumbi Haaduvenu’ organized by ETV and  S P Balasubrahmanyam.

 

When he was just fifteen, he was one of the proud members and a singer of ‘Janatha Melody Makers; he started his journey as a singer and instrument player with Janatha Melody Makers. Mr. Charan Kumar is the music director of ‘Sarpa Sankale’, ‘Kaasdaaye Kandani’, ‘Bolli’, ‘Dota’, ‘Nyayogaad Enna Baduku’, ‘Bangaar Patler’, ‘September 8’, ‘baddkkda Bile’, ‘Satya Olundu’, ‘Mokeda Bale’, ‘Poo Pingara’ and ‘Badi’ – Tulu Movie, ‘Bogsanhe’ and ‘Kazar’ – Konkani Movie, ‘Appu’ - Kannada Movie, ‘Poovamma’ – Kodava Movie!

 

More than 4000 musical Nites, 3000 Tulu Plays, hundreds of Kannada plays, fifty-plus Konkani plays, and devotional albums have got the melodious voice by Charan Kumar. He has been appreciated for his excellent work by Mr. Hamsalekha and Mr. Ilayaraja for the album ’Sangaathi, and ‘Navyageetegalu’, produced by Mr. Rajshekar and HMV Madras.

 

He has been honored for his work and has received many awards and honors, to name a few: ’Dakshina Kannada District Rajyotsava Award’, ’Washington Kannada Sangha Award’, ’Karnataka Tulu Sahitya Akademy Award’, ’Mumbai News Award’, ’Taulava Award’, ’Karavali Okkoota Award’. He has been facilitated by ’Super Hits 93.5 Red FM’ at the Sangeethotsava Sanman. He has been crowned ’Konkani Nakshatr’ by ’Karnataka Konkani Sahitya Akademy’ and also grabbed ’The lifetime Achievement Award 2022’.

 

A great personality who continues to contribute so much to the Konkani Community by spreading the taste of Konkani music worldwide through his passion is judging our show. We, Mangalore Konkans, are honored to have him as one of the judges. We welcome him with utmost respect and pride!

 

Joel Pereira

The Konkani music industry has been gifted by the presence of one of the inspiring music gurus Mr. Alexander Joel Pereira. His achievements in Hindustani and Western music are mesmerizing! He is very popular for his Harmonisation and sound printing. His fans and music world have titled him as ‘Sageet Guru’. He has judged many reality shows. He was also one of the first judges of ‘Gulf Voice of Mangalore’.

 

Repository of talent, Mr. Joel Pereira plays around eight instruments, and he is famous for playing all of them. He has contributed a lot to the most popular percussion instruments of Konkan. He has also mastered a renowned form of singing, “A Capella” (this form of singing requires hard work, lots of practice, a great ear, and the ability to collaborate with others, with no backup instruments to help someone).

 

Joel Pereira has worked as a Music Director of ‘Konkani Nirantari,’ a singing marathon that has received a Guinness record. Through his mesmerizing voice, he has given life to more than 400 albums released in Konkani, English, Malayalam, Kannada, and Tulu. He is teaching the Mangalore Philharmonic Choir group.

 

Along with singing, he developed a passion for literature and became a popular writer of six plays on bible story, four social plays. Mr Joel Pereira has written a novel named ‘Sarnetam Maatalyachin’. He has written more than thirty short stories, more than ten Konkani Comedy Plays. ‘Betala’ and ‘Sizm’ these two novels are ready to be offered to the public shortly. He is currently working on a film story which is going to be released soon.

 

That’s not it… He has grabbed many awards like, ‘ ‘Sandesh Award’, ‘ Kalakar Purskar’, ‘Utteem Sangeetgar’ Award by Mandd Sobhann and he has been honored by many such awards for magnificent work.

 

Fr Reginald Paul D’Souza

Introducing last but not the least, Fr Reginald Paul D’Souza, it is indeed our honour that Fr Reginald is judging the show as one of the three judges. The smile never fades on his face, and it is contagious! And what more than adoring God’s will and working towards it with a golden heart like him who finds time to praise the Lord through melodic singing and his divine mission!

 

He has received the Hindustani classical music title ’Prabhakar’; only those who devote themselves to 12 years of training in Hindustani Classical Music! Rev. Fr. Reginald is well known for being an expert in fifty-four different raagas!

 

He has received his degree in Hindustani music industry from ‘Prayag Sangeet Academy’. He has trained many for six years during his service amongst different cities of India. He has worked as a music master for two years in the seminary. He has participated in plenty of singing competitions and received many rewards for his talent.

 

From the year 1997, Fr Reginald has been judging many singing competitions. Under his leadership many social programs have gained singing entertainment and he has also directed many musical programs in Allahabad where he is currently rendering his service as a director of Nazareth Hospital.

 

A talent like him being one of the judges is our destiny and Mangalore Konkans proudly welcome him to judge our show.
