Doha/Qatar, 25 Jul 2022: Karnataka Sangha and Punarjani Qatar have successfully repatriated Jayakumar Kudlu, 59-years-old Indian expat, hailing from Mangaluru, Karnataka. Jayakumar was in treatment at HMC and Rumaillah Hospital for 1 year for various illnesses.

Since Jayakumar needed to be transported in a stretcher with accompanying medical assistance on the flight, only Qatar Airways was possible from Doha, since Qatar Airways has no direct flight service to Mangaluru Airport, the nearest Airport to choose was either Kozhikode or Bengaluru. Their main hurdle was to arrange local transportation from those Airports to his native place and by considering many factors, they decided to take him to Bengaluru.

The president of Karnataka Sangha Qatar Mahesh Gowda and vice president of Indian Cultural Centre (ICC) Subramanya Hebbagelu requested Dr Sudhakar, Karnataka medical education and health minister for arranging an ambulance service along with a doctor from the health ministry to transport Jayakumar from Bengaluru Airport to Mangaluru Hospital. On July 22 morning, Jayakumar Kudlu was received by his brother and brother-in-law at Bengaluru Airport and taken to the hospital in Mangaluru for his further treatment.

Karnataka Sangha thanked the minister Dr Sudhakar for timely approval, D Randeep IAS, Commissioner and Dr Bhargavi M S, Deputy Director (HET), Health and Family Welfare Services, Arogya Soudha, government of Karnataka for coordinating this repatriation, Honorable MP Smt. Sumalatha’s office for  always directing them to right officers for NRI issues, Ravi Hegde, Editor In Chief at Kannada Prabha for supporting them on this occasion, Lakshmamma P, member secretary, NRI Forum, Karnataka for following up with various departments. The staff and management of Hamad Medical Corporation and Rumala Hospital deserve the appreciation from the community for their dedication to the wellness of this patient for more than a year. Also the Embassy of India is always supporting the Indian community, they appreciate Punarjani, an NGO helping to repatriate patients from Doha to India, did a very good job in coordinating with the hospitals and arranging transportation, and past general secretary of Karnataka Sangha Muralidhar Rao for coordinating with the family and updating the status of his health since 1 year.

Mahesh Gowda said, ‘We appreciate the response of the government of Karnataka in this case and also looking forward for the same kind of timely support for NRI issues in coming days.’

Jaykumar’s brother Mr. Surya “I, my sister-in-law and children thank all the support personally and the government help for repatriation, and we pray god bless them all.”
