Lions Club, Moodubelle donates Rs. Two lakhs to Manasa, Pamboor

Udupi/M’Belle, 28 Mar 2022: The Lions Club, Moodubelle donated Rs. Two lakhs to the Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre Pamboor on Monday, 28 March 2022 at a brief function. The amount was a donation from Dr. Bharat Kamath, son of Ln. Mukunda Kamath a businessman and philanthropist in Moodubelle.
When Dr. Bharat was on vacation in Moodubelle last year, he accompanied Ln. Ignatius Monis to Manasa. Ln. Ignatius Monis has been one of the active members of the Catholic Sabha which is closely associated with Manasa. After observing the various activities of Manasa, Dr. Bharat Kamath was quite impressed and assured some financial help in the near future. Recently, he sent Rs. Two lakhs to the account of his father Ln. Mukunda Kamath requesting him to hand over the amount to the administrators of Manasa through the Lions Club, Moodubelle of which Ln. Mukunda Kamath is the member.
The Lions Club members led by Ln. Valerian Noronha(President), Ln. Joseph Martis (Secretary) and Ln. Elias Lobo (Treasurer) along with Ln. Mukunda Kamath, Ln. Commodore Jerome Castelino (Charter President) and his daughter-in-law Mrs. Geetha Castelino, Ln. Devdas Hebbar and others visited the Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre at 10.30 am.
A brief stage programme was held in the Manasa auditorium. Ln. Valerian Noronha, Ln. Joseph Martis, Ln. Elias Lobo, Ln. Mukunda Kamath, Ln. Commodore Jerome Castelino and Henry Menezes-President of Manasa were on the dais.
Following brief introduction by Sr. Ancilla Fernandes-Headmistress of Manasa, Henry Menezes welcomed the gathering.
Ln. Valerian Noronha narrated the background of the donation of rupees two lakhs which was received from Dr. Bharat Kamath through his father Ln. Mukunda Kamath to be handed over to Manasa. There after he along with other members on the dais handed over the cheque to Henry Menezes and Sr, Ancilla Fernandes.
In their messages both Ln. Commodore Jerome Castelino and Ln. Devdas Hebbar greatly appreciated the philanthropic activities of Ln. Mukunda Kamath and highlighted his finer qualities as a businessman and human being.
Sr. Ancilla Fernandes said that the amount of rupees two lakhs donated by Dr. Bharat Kamath through the Lions Club, Moodubelle will be utilized to set up a Kindergarten to the autistic children studying in the Manasa Rehabilitation and Training Centre.
Ln. Gerald Fernandes-Vice President of the Parish pastoral Council, Ln. Rajendra Shetty, Ln. Anil D’Mello, Ln. Sudhakar Amin, Ln. Wilson D’Souza, Ln. Ivan Menezes, Ln. Ivan D’Almeida, Ln. Henry Fernandes and Ln. Eugene D’Souza were present.
