Mumbai, 26 Feb 2022: Model Co-operative Bank Limited hosted 2019-20 and 2020-2021 Academic Excellence Awards for the talented children of its shareholders at St Andrew’s parish lawns, BanDRA (West), here on Saturday, February 26.

Addressing the gathering, Felix D’Souza, parish priest of St Anthony’s Church, Vakola, Santacruz (East), here said, ‘Model Bank is a leading Co-operative Bank, professionally managed and recognized as one of the top 3 Co-op. Bank. This bank is almost in competition with Schedule and National bank. There were rumors that I don’t trust the co-op bank, but these banks have always been in our community, they should with, they always Understood our needs. Corona Virus came, now the Ukraine war is going on, in all this circumstance life is in the risk category with no money. As the vice president said, education does not have a full stop. It keeps on and on with challenges, new ideas and Technology.  Secondly, don’t blame it, whether it is pandemic or online classes. Now students don’t want offline exams because they cannot write fast. All this is kind of to blame and I don’t appreciate all these things in Life. We should always appreciate things that come in Life. I have gone through a successful person’s background without blaming them for their hard work and now been the owner of the company. Dream and fly you should always dream big and get up and start working on that, you will achieve what you dream, said Fr Felix D’Souza.

Speaking on the occasion, John D’Silva said, ‘You have to make the effort to become experts and courageous in your chosen fields so that originality and society change. We should strive for self-interest without sacrificing our genius. Otherwise called to be interested in the higher posts of civil service, defense or judicial service.’

The vice president William J Sequiera said, ‘Life is a School and each day it’s teaching us new lessons. Most of us make the mistake of thinking that, once we finish the exam, once we get our degree, once we get our job all our troubles will be behind us. But Life is a Funny Day of testing you of when you least expect you, and these tests have been done without any syllabus, no practical test and no set days when this test will happen. Those who do well in school life are those who have been the most eager students and curious to learn and never afraid to ask questions and always accept mistakes and learn from them. The other big appeal I would like to take into consideration is entrepreneurship over environment. I know that as a director I might have more interest in seeing more business statistics because that means more opportunity to give your loans. Today your opportunity comes your way to take up to study, it can arrange an education loan and repay after you start your career.’

The Bank’s director Thomas D Lobo spoke to the children to doubt the futurity of higher education but highlight the purpose of education. Which is not nearly as mentioned by our Vice Chairman, Fr. Felix, also is not nearly the acquisition of academic honors but the Percy’s of your career. The true purpose of education is to make minds and build character not careers, discovering one’s purpose in life is essential for ensuring long term succession in our lives. It is said that education is not just preparation for life, it’s life itself.

This program is a significant initiative of Model Bank, proposed by the Bank’s Vice President, William J Sequiera. It is for this reason that Model Bank organizes an accolade every year to motivate its students for the hard work and precision of its shareholder children. This will help the children to develop confidence in themselves. He also congratulated the all students on the inspiration of their children’s efforts and appreciation for their efforts.

Directors CA Paul Nazareth, advocate Pius Vas, Gerald Cardoza, Lawrence D’Souza, additional general manager Zenon D’Cruz were present.

The event was attended by Bank’s shareholders, beneficiaries, customers, Bank’s Associate Principal Naresh Thakur, Ratnakar Shetty and Branch Head and staff was present.

Welcomed by William J Sequiera. The Bank’s Principal Lecturer, CEO, Osden A Fonseca, made a guest appearance. Senior lecturer Beita Carvalho and Claire Ann D’Souza hosted the event. Lawrence D’Souza proposed vote of thanks. The program concluded with the National Anthem.
