Mangaluru: Nitte DU prepares for imminent 3rd wave of Covid-19, installs oxygen plant

Mangaluru, 05 Jan 2022: N Vinay Hegde, the chancellor of Nitte Deemed to be University inaugurated the newly-installed oxygen plant at Justice K S Hegde Charitable Hospital, Deralakatte, here on Tuesday, January 4. It was imported from Italy.
He also viewed the working of an oxygen plant that would be life-saver in an event of the third wave of Covid-19.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Shantharam Shetty, pro-chancellor of Nitte Deemed to be University said, ‘The newly-installed oxygen plant that was put into service today would be a boon for patients. The liquid oxygen was in short supply during the second wave in the past, while the union ministry of health and family welfare took the initiative not to face such a situation in case the third wave strikes. The plant was imported from Italy and installed within 3 months and began operation. It was installed as a precaution to face the imminent third wave of Covid-19 effectively,’ said Dr Shetty.
Vishal Hegde, pro-chancellor of Nitte Deemed to be University, chancellor Prof Satish Kumar Bhandary, vice chancellor Prof M S Moodittaya, registrar Prof Alka Kulkarni, finance director M Rajendra, dean Prof P S Prakash, administration vice dean Dr Jayaprakash Shetty, medical superintendent Dr Shivakumar Hiremut and others were present.
