Confraternity Sunday Observed with Grand Eucharistic Procession in St. Lawrence Parish, Moodubelle

Udupi/M’Belle, 02 Jan 2022: In anticipation of the Annual Parish Feast to be celebrated on Wednesday, 5 January 2021, the traditional Confraternity Sunday was observed on Sunday, 2 January 2022 with Holy Mass and a grand Eucharistic Procession through the Main Road in Moodubelle Township. Though the Eucharistic Procession could not be taken out last year (2021) due to Covid 19 pandemic and government restrictions, this year large number of parishioners participated in the Eucharistic Procession with great devotion accompanied by the Brass Band and singing of Konakani and Kannada hymns led by Fr. Cyril Lobo, Assistant Parish Priest of Moodubelle.
The Holy Mass was concelebrated by Fr. Sunil Kumar D’Souza as the chief celebrant along with Fr. George D’Souza-Parish Priest, Fr. Cyril Lobo and other priests.
In his homily, Fr. Sunil Kumar D’Souza highlighted the role and responsibilities of parish leaders right from the Parish Priest to the Gurkars and representatives in building the parish community. He also pointed out as to how the individual families well organized with specific duties and responsibilities of individual members in the family can eventually strengthen the parish community.
Soon after the Holy Mass, Fr. Sunil Kumar D’Souza assisted by Fr. Cyril Lobo conducted brief Adoration of the Holy Eucharist followed by the grand Eucharistic Procession. The Eucharistic Procession passed through the road passing by the Community hall, cemetery, St. Lawrence PU College and taking the right turn joining the Main Road and entering the church through the main front gate.
Fr. Sunil Kumar D’Souza carried the Holy Sacrament on a decorated vehicle as members of the Parish pastoral Council walked in front carrying colourful canopies.
At the end of the Eucharistic Procession, Sacramental Blessing was conferred on the congregation.
