Mangaluru: 5 startups get cash awards in Nitte-KBL Kaun Banega Udyamapati Contest

Mangaluru, 29 Dec 2021: Nitte - KBL Kaun Banega Udyamapati contest Prize Distribution Ceremony was organized at Hotel Ocean Pearl, here on Tuesday, December 28.
AIC Nitte Incubation Centre, in association with Karnataka Bank, had organized the Kaun Banega Udyamapathi Contest to promote entrepreneurship among young men and women in Coastal Karnataka involving Mangaluru, Karwar and Udupi districts. Twenty bright ideas were shortlisted from 300 registrations and were presented to an expert jury who selected 4 winners in each sector (Agri-Tech, Medi-Tech, SaaS, Special Category). Four award-winning startups were awarded with a cash prize of Rs 1 lac as prize money.
(1) Winner in Special Category Cem Echola –Futuristic Nano Cement which is effective, economic and stronger. (2) Winner in Medi Tech Sector is Haemodialyzer making dialysis a homely and an affordable option (3) Winner in Agri Tech Sector is Atma Nirbhar Gaushala which enables gaushalas to profitable ventures (4) Winner in SaaS Sector - Kaarbar a hyperlocal service provider in tier-2 cities in India. A Special award for innovative product was awarded to Dr Arun Maiya for his innovative product of Lazer Shoe.
The guests for valedictory ceremony were Mahabaleshwar MS, managing director and CEO Karnataka Bank, Dr M Shantaram Shetty, pro-chancellor, Nitte (Deemed to be University), Shashidhar Pai Maroor, president, KCCI, Ullas Kamath, joint managing director, Jyothi Laboratories Ltd, Mahadeva Gowda R, managing director, Deemandla Properties Private Ltd, Dr Ashok Alur, director, Center of Excellence for FPO’s, Karnataka government.
Dr A P Achar, chief executive officer of AIC- Nitte (supported by NITI Aayog) welcomed and presented a brief report of the event.
Mahabaleswara M S, in his address highlighted the need for promotion of Startup in the coastal region and assured all the possible support for the promotion of startup in the coastal belt.
Ullas Kamath, in his address expressed his willingness to mentor award winning startups to realize their dream to be world class entrepreneur.
Mahadeve Gowda, explained the opportunity for startups in the agri sector for young entrepreneurs. He also expressed his commitment for extending his seed funding support for 10 startups.
Dr Ashok Alur, director, Center of Excellence for FPOs, government of Karnataka and also the member of organizing committee expressed his willingness to support the KBU Contest at state level.
Vinaya Bhat, Karnataka Bank, Leelaksha Karkare, head of Namma Kudla and Tilak, director of Vignahartha Hindustan Agro Technologies participated in the program.
