Brahmavara: Media is accountable to people, not for govt, politicians – Justice Santosh

Brahmavar, 27 Dec 2021: Media that has been acknowledged as 4th wing of democracy is only accountable to the people and neither government nor politicians can override them, said retired Karnataka Lokayukta Justice Santosh Hegde.

 

Hegde was speaking during the conferring of Vaddarse Raghuram Shetty Media Award to U S Shenoy, editor of Kundaprabha Weekly published from Kundapura at Bunts Bhavan, here on Sunday, December 26. The award was instituted by Brahmavara taluk working journalists Association and conferred every year to distinguished journalists for their significant work.

 

 

U S Shenoy in his acknowledgement said, ‘Raghuram Shetty in his lifetime strived to get justice for those who were poor and was the mentor of many budding journalists.’

 

Anand C Kunder, entrepreneur from Kota inaugurated the programme.

 

Brahmavara taluk working journalists Association president Chittoor Prabhakar Acharya presided the programme.

 

Brahmavar Tahsildar Rajashekarmurti, Udupi district journalists Association secretary Nazir Polya, Udupi district Kannada Sahitya Parishat president Nilavar Surendra Adiga were present at the dais.

 

The convener of the programme Vasant Giliyar, Association secretary Rajesh Achlady, treasurer Mohan Udupa, vice president Chandrashekar Bijady, Ganesh Saibarakatte and others were present.
