Colombo: Karnataka Glory reverberates in Sri Lanka at 27th Int’l Kannada Cultural Fest

Colombo/Sri Lanka, 20 Dec 2021: At the joint aegis of International Indian Cultural Council and World Peace Foundation 27th International Kannada Cultural Fest was held here on Thursday, December 16.
Swami Malayashanta Shivacharya of Melanagavimata Shivagange inaugurated the programme.
In his inaugural address, Swami said, ‘’Kannada and its culture has a significant history. It has a potential to go global that could be achieved by organizing Kannada cultural events in different countries worldwide.’
In his preliminary address, International Indian Cultural Council president K P Manjunat Sagar said, ‘We have been organizing Kannada cultural fests in many countries and honor distinguished Kannadigas, thereby spreading the splendor of Kannada. Karnataka is a friendly state that promotes cultural harmony on a global level,’ said Manjunat.
Kannaigas B N Horapeti, Sanmukayya Totada, Yacoub Khader Gulwady and Gavisiddayya Hallikerimata were conferred Global Icon Awards in the presence of Sri Lankan entrepreneur Rajeev Fernando, D S Vishwanat, Dr E Anjaneya, Haji Munir Bava, Go Na Swamy, Jayalaxmi Bai.
Sharanayya Itagi, Mehboob Killedar and others presented cultural events.
Go Na Swamy compered the programme.
