Udupi, 03 Dec 2021: The computer science department and computer literacy cell of St Mary’s College, Shirva, here organized World Computer Literacy Day on Thursday, December 2.
The College office superintendent Doreen Silva was the chief guest and said, ‘Since the time computers marked their significance in performing the tasks easily, efficiently and quickly, they have occupied almost all the fields as a vital requirement. Especially during pandemic Computer knowledge helped to communicate, do transactions, performing Online for all communities,’ said Doreen.
She also distributed Add on Course certificates to the students.
St Mary’s College principal Dr Herald Ivan Monis presided the programme. He laid emphasis on Skill-Based Add on Courses, which shapes the students ability in getting employed.
Lieutenant K Praveen Kumar, HoD of computer science added that jobs in various fields expects the candidate to be good enough in using computers in their application areas and with this aspect, St Mary’s College offers free certified Computer Basic and Tally with GST courses which should be utilized by the students.
Student welfare council director Yashoda, Priyanka, teaching and non-teaching staff, students were present.
Convener of computer literacy cell Divyashree welcomed the gathering. Charita and the group rendered prayer. Preethika of III BCA proposed vote of thanks. Aswitha of II BCA compeered the programme.
