Udupi: Free General Health and Eye Checkup Camp Held at Lions Club, Moodubelle

Udupi, 26 Sept 2021: Free general health and eye check up camp was organized at the Lions Seva Bhavan on Sunday, 26 September 2021 from 9.30 am to 1 pm. This camp was jointly organized by the Lions Club and Leo Club, Moodubelle along with Gandhi Hospital, Udupi, Prasad Super Specialty Eye Hospital, Udupi, Netrajyothi Charitable Trust, District Health and Family Welfare Department, Health Commission and Catholic Sabha of  St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle. The camp was coordinated by Ln. Devdas Hebbar.

 

The free general health and eye check up camp was inaugurated by Dr. Nagabhushan Udupi-Udupi District Health Officer, District Health and Family Welfare Department along with other dignitaries on the dais Fr. Cyril Lobo-Assistant Parish Priest of St. Lawrence Church, Moodubelle, Dr. Krishna Prasad-Executive Director of Prasad Netralaya, Udupi, Dr. Vysaraj Tantri A-Medical Director, Gandhi Hospital, Udupi, Dr. Prasad Bhat Marne-Orthopedic Specialist, Ln. Valerian Noronha-President of the Lions Club, Moodubelle and Ln. Devdas Hebbar.

 

In his message, Dr. Krishna Prasad said that since the establishment of the Prasad Netralaya, the hospital has been conducting regular camps in Moodubelle through the Lions Club of Moodubelle. He specially mentioned the name of Ln. Commodore Jerome Castelino and Ln. Devdas Hebbar with whom he has been having close contact. He also said that  the teams from the Prasad Netralaya has been conducting free eye camps in various states including Karnataka, Goa, Kerala and Gujarat. He mentioned that his team had conducted free eye camp in the birth village of Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Gujarat. Dr. Krishna Prasad highlighted the importance of maintaining the health of eyes and the precaustion to be taken in preserving the eye sight.

 

 

Fr. Cyril Lobo in his benedictory message wished well to the camp and asked Gold’s blessings on all the doctors, technicians, supporting staff and the beneficiaries of the camp.

 

Dr. Nagabhushan Udupa appreciated the efforts taken by the Lions Club of Moodubelle in organizing such a multipurpose health and eye check up camp.

 

Dr. Prakash Bhat Marne traced his family contact to Moodubelle and said that most of his patients hail from the regions and villages contiguous with Moodubelle. He also lauded the servie activity of the Lions Club of Mooddubelle in organizing such a beneficial general health and eye check up camp.

 

Dr. Kiran Kumar N-Heart Specialist and Dr. Lokesh Rao-Skin Specilist were present.

 

Ln. Valerian Noronha welcomed the gathering. Ln. Joseph Martis-Secretary of the Lions Club, Moodubelle proposed the vote of thanks. Ln. Devdas Hebbar compeered the programme and District Leo President Joy Fernandes recited the prayer to the accompaniment of guitar by Leo Loy Fernades.
