Fr. Charles Menezes - Director of Udupi Diocesan ICYM, parish priest of Mother of Sorrows Church and Dean of Udupi Deanery was the chief guest.
Fr. Reginald Pinto in his welcome and introductory remarks explained the process of selecting the students from marginalized and needy families for the interest free loan as well as non-returnable financial help. This year the number of beneficiaries for education help from Goretti Stitching, Netherlands is 43 out of which 21 students belong to primary section, 9 students to higher primary section, 2 to high school, 4 to PUC, 3 to ITI, one to General Nursing and one to graduation. There are two beneficiaries who got assistance from Education Fund of Sampada Udupi. KCWA has provided interest free loan to 6 students. One student has benefited from ‘Girl Child Day 2021-Education for Every Girl Child’ online donation drive from Sampada Udupi.
In his message, Fr. Charles Menezes said that education is very important for anyone to achieve success in life. However, education has been becoming costlier day by day. As a result children from underprivileged families find it difficult to continue higher education. Under these circumstances the Udupi Diocese through Sampada has been providing financial assistance in the form of interest-free loan to the needy students. It is important that such loan has to be returned within the period specified so that the other students may get the benefit for their studies.
Fr. Charles Menezes distributed the covers containing cheques of the interest-free loans and non-returnable financial assistance to the students.
Sr. Veera Monis - Director of ICDP, Harold D’Souza - Internal Auditor of Sampada Mrs. Shaila D’Souza and Dr. Eugene D’Souza - Sampada Board of Directors Members, Sampada Staff members and parents of the beneficiaries were present.
