Udupi: Teachers Day and Mother Teresa Day Observed by Lions Club, Moodubelle

Udupi/M’Belle, 06 Sep 2021: The Teachers Day along with St. Mother Teresa Day were observed by the Lions Club, Moodubelle on Monday, 6 September 2021 at a programme held at 7pm. On this occasion the retired and presently in service teachers who are the members or the family members of the Lions Club, Moodubelle were felicitated.
The programme commenced with the prayer song by the Leo Club members and welcome by president Ln. Valerian Noronha. The dignitaries on the dais included Ln. Valerian Noronha - President of the Lions Club, Moodubelle, Ln. Joseph Martis - Secretary, Ln. Elias Lobo - Treasurer, Rt. Pundalika Marate - Chief Guest, Ln. Lavina Noronha, Leo Aiden Menezes - District Leo Secretary, Leo Joyce Fernandes - President Leo Club, Moodubelle.
The dignitaries paid homage to Dr. Sarvappalli Radhakrishnan and St. Mother Teresa by garlanding their portraits. Ln. Lavina Noronha narrated the life and service of Mother Teresa.
Ln. Elias D’Souza introduced briefly each and every teacher who were felicitated by the chief guest, Pundalik Marate by presenting them memento and Ln. Valerian Noronha offering them roses.
On behalf of the teachers, Mrs. Lilly Lobo conveyed gratitude to the Lions Club of Moodubelle for honouring the teachers both retired and in service belonging to the Lions families.
Following the introduction of the chief guest by Ln. Devdas Hebbar, Pundalika Marate in his keynote address said that both Sarvapalli Radhakrishnan and APJ Abdul Kalam who occupied the highest constitutional position of President in India were apolitical persons who were teachers. In this way they have been the role models for all teachers. He further said that one can see God in one’s mother, father, teacher, guests and poor. He also touched upon his own journey as a teacher and how he could shape the lives of many students who still pay their respect by contacting him on the Teachers Day. Pundalik Marate pointed out the good qualities of Indian culture and traditions which have universal appeal.
The chief guest Pundalika Marate was honoured by the dignitaries on the dais.
On this occasion seven new Leo members were indicted into the Leo Club of Moodubelle.
Lions and Leo Club members as well as their family members whose birthday falls in the month of September celebrated by cutting the cake.
Ln. Joseph Martis proposed the vote of thanks and Ln. Nevill D’Souza compeered the programme.
