Udupi: Lions Club Moodubelle celebrates ‘Aatidonji Dhina’ with traditional fervour and fun

Udupi/M’Belle, 14 Aug 2021: For the first time in its history, the Lions Club, Moodubelle celebrated ‘Atidonji Dhina’ on Saturday, 14 August 2021 from 9.30 am  with breakfast, stage programme, games and lunch with traditional items prepared by the members of the Lions Club of Moodubelle. The programme was held at the residence of Ln. Ivan D’Almeida near Kappandakariya Bridge.

 

There were varieties of traditional breakfast dishes which were relished by the participants.

 

The stage programme commenced at 10.30 am. Ln. Valerian Noronha, President of the Lions Club, Moodubelle presided over the programme. Other dignitaries included: Ln. Joseph Martis-Secretary, Ln. Elias Lobo-Treasurer, Leo Joy Fernandes-Lions District Leo President, Le Joyce Fernandes-President of Moodubelle Leo Club and Ln. Siddharaju, the chief guest.

 

Following the prayer song by the Leo members and  welcome address by Ln. Valerian Noronha ’Aatidonji Dhina’ programme was formally inaugrated by unfurling of the coconut flower bud by the dignitaries on the stage. Ln. Siddharaju in his address, speaking about the traditions of the month of Ashada (Aati in Tulu) traced the roots of many aspects of Tulu culture in particular and Indian culture in general. 

 

 

Two Lion members-Ln. Elais D’Souza and Ln. Eugene D’Souza and three children of Lions members whose birthday falls in August celebrated their birthdays by cutting a decorated cake.

 

Ln. Wilson D’Souza and Leo Joy Fernades conducted varieties of games for the Lion and their family members as well as children for entertainment.

 

There was sumptuous lunch with traditional dishes. Altogether there were 30 types of dishes out of which 10 varieties of chutneys that kept the taste buds busy. All the participants enjoyed ‘Aatidonji Dhia’ programme.

 

Ln. Commodore Jerome Castelino, the Charter President of the Lions Club, Mooddubelle was present.

 

Ln. Devdas Hebbar compeered the programme.

 

Ln. Valerian Noronha, Ln. Joseph Martis, Ln. Elias Lobo, Ln. Gerald Fernandes, Ln. Anil D’Mello, the immediate past president, Ln. Rajendta Shetty, Ln. Ivan D’Almeida, Ln. Ivan Menezes, Ln. Wilson D’Souza and their family members as well as other lion members worked hard to make ‘Aatidonji Dhina’ a great success.
