Udupi: Waste of talk time in City Municipality

Udupi, 01 July 2011: Will anybody say no if a mobile phone is given free along with sim card? Yes there are people who say no in Udupi Municipality! An arrangement has been made to issue sim card and mobile phone of the same company to all the Municipality members and officers – staff with a monthly payment of Rs. 125, so that this mobile will keep the members, officers and staff always in contact, so that all works of the Municipality will run smoothly, is the intention of this plan.

 

This proposal is made in the meeting by Gokuldas Nayak of City Municipality. But some of the members did not like this plan and the discussion took place as follows.

 

Corporation Sthayee Samithi President Naveen Bhandary said, give to those who do not have the mobile, because we already have mobiles and showed his two mobile phones.

 

Former President Dinakara Shetty Herga spoke and said, today everybody has mobile, so from Corporation no need to give mobile, if required give only sim card.

 

Former Vice President stood up at once and said that, mobile phone is definitely required, if others do not need, I need it. When somebody is giving it why should we leave? She questioned.

 

 

 

This is group network mobile, the members, officers – staff can talk between themselves free of cost, explained the President Kiran Kumar.

 

Dinakara Shetty said that, since it is free call then there will be possibilities that the staff will talk to each other for hours together and no work of the Municipality will progress, expressed his anxiety.

 

Ravi Amin said, issue them, those who wants will take it and the rest need not take, why to waste time on this issue unnecessarily, he tried to close the issue.

 

For this Former President Anandi said if you are issuing issue it to everyone, if it is issuing to only for some, then no need to issue at all, she raised her voice.

 

It was published in the news paper that laptops will be issued to Municipality members. Anyway it is already published in the news paper. If you are giving give laptop, but no need mobile, Vasanthi Shetty made a new demand.

 

Assuring cake and now trying to give only chocolate?, no, if giving give only laptop, no need mobile, said senior member Dr. R. H. Pai.

 

At last the President and Chairman could not make a decision on this mobile issue. So they kept the issue pending to discuss it further and moved on to other issues.

 

In the question and answer period, instead of discussing the public works issues, is it necessary to discuss such silly issues for hours, questioned the press reporters with each other.
