Udupi: Excellence Day Celebrated in St. Lawrence English Medium School, Moodubelle

Udupi/M’Belle, 27 Mar 2021: In spite of the Covid 19 pandemic, St. Lawrence English Medium School, Moodubelle celebrated Excellence Day to recognize and honour the students right from the Lower KG to tenth standard on Saturday, 27 March 2021 at 11.30 am in the school hall.

 

Shrikrishna Bhat, LIC of India, Udupi Branch Manager was the chief guest. Other dignitaries on the dais included: Sudhakar Poojary-President of Belle Grama Panchayat, Leeladhar Kamath-PTA President, Spoorthi Nayak-SSLC Topper of 2011-12 and Br. Philip Noronha-Principal of St. Lawrence English Medium School.

 

The Excellence Day celebration commenced with prayer sung by the students and was followed by welcome address by Principal Br. Philip Noronha.

 

The chief guest, Shrikrishna Bhat distributed prizes to the best students from each class for their performance in the year 2019-2020.

In his message, Shrikrishna Bhat said that LIC of India has taken many steps to promote excellence in education by constituting scholarships and awarding prizes to brilliant students.

 

Leeladhar Kamath, Spoorthi Nayak and Br. Philp Noronha gave away prizes to students from Lower KG to tenth standard for their achievements. From each class three students were awarded first, second and third prizes. The arrangement to distribute the prizes was unique. A victory stand with three steps was kept on the stage. The winners were honoued with marigold crowns, certificates, memento and books.

 

Speaking on this occasion, the alumnus of the school, Spoorthi Nayak recalled her days as a student in the school. She completed engineering course in computer science and presently she is serving in Accenture in Bengaluru. 

 

In his message, Sudhakar Poojary said that he has been proud to be one of the students of the  Church Aided Higher Primary School and St. Lawrence Composite PU College. As the President of the Belle Grama Panchayat, he assured full support to the educational and co-curricular activities of the school. 

Sashidhar and Mamatha, teachers in charge of Scouts and Guide gave away prizes to the winners of  traditional skills who had worked on the theme ‘Wealth from Waste’.

 

Glen Rebello, an alumnus of the school and Mrs. Malathi gave away prizes to students who had excelled in art.

 

Mrs. Sumalath Nayak read the names of the prize winning students. Mrs. Anitha proposed the vote of thanks and Mrs. Joyce D’Sa compeered the programme. 

 

At the end of the programme sweets sponsored by Narayan Karkera were distributed to the guests and students.
